Abstract: This study aims to identify, analyse and argue the orientation of judicial practices and doctrine regarding the admissibility of requests for intervention in contravention complaints. In our opinion, in order to guarantee free access to justice, considering the public interest protected by the rules on contraventions, as well as to ensure the enforceability of court decisions issued in the contravention complaint procedures, it is necessary to retain the admissibility, in certain situations, of requests for intervention in contravention litigation.
